Free (?) "things to do" iPhone app...something simple

I just want something where I can type in "remember to do this", and it'll give me some sort of notification until I do it (thing, maybe, like the text notification -- i.e. a "4" if you've got three uncompleted tasks). I'd prefer not to have to set actual "events", since shit like "pay your credit card bill" or whatever are too lightweight for such a solution.

Pretty much I remembered I need to do something tomorrow, and I was going to put it in my iphone, but I couldn't figure out where to put it (notes? Calendar? someplace else?) and since I never entered it, I've since forgotten what it was I need to do in the first damn place (and this was 5 minutes ago!)

So ideally, something (free! but I'd pay if it did what I want) that would allow me to quickly and lightweight remind myself to do something, but then had some sort of constant notification (i.e. some sort of indication on the home iphone page) until it's completed would be rad.

Any ideas?

IF you subscribe to GTD then try OmniFocus.
I do not so it didn't go that well and am trying "Things" which has been getting rave reviews.

Iprocrastinate mobile is awesome, more geared for students but can be applied to anything really.

Trying iProcrastinate and I like that it has the reminder on the front page. From a brief look at Things, it looks more like what I'm looking for, but we'll see if it's worth the $9.99.

Try ZenbeLists, if you just want a simple To Do app.

It syncs online so you can edit at your computer and it will OTA sync to your iPhone.
