its here.....once again..... apps 1,the man 0.....

check out a sweet little app called text plus....for ios, android, even works for ipods apparently...send/receive mms as long as ya got wifi...ftw!!!!! apparently the pay version even has calling... now all we need is city provided wifi everywhere... shit i can drive down any street in my town and get wifi though..just have to pull over for a sec to send a text from the tablet... gonna be the law soon anyway...

Cities were supposed to be putting out free WiFi 10 years ago; Where did that go?

I learned about this in 1996, it's called ICQ... of course there are other services too, Yahoo!, AIM, etc. Anywhere I have WiFi I have messaging/texting - same thing to me.

For me ICQ is quicker than email, though I still use email quite a bit. Not being a MyTwitFace+ user, email is still my primary means of electronic communication.

Sure, I use it daily at work, my entire team is on it. Most of my friends and family are on Yahoo! Messenger though. I have both apps on my phone. I only have the desktop client for ICQ though.

ICQ, AIM, MSNM, etc are just services. You don't need their client to use them... all of them have bloated clients these days.

I use Pidgin. It's lightweight and works. Right now it's using approx 10,000K which is nothing, I've got 8GB in the system...

I like the fact that these apps are considered new concepts. What's next, a voice chat app for the iphone? LOL Wait, I think there IS one, isin't there. "Now you can talk to your friends on your phone!"

If you have wifi connection why use an extra app when you can just email them?

What do people check first? SMS or Email?

Not everyone has a smartphone that can put out a email notification..

btw, do you people here still pay for texting plans? lol...
