Funny story...

I'm riding my bicycle west on San Vincente in Brentwood earlier today. Up ahead, I see an XL large cardboard box in the middle of the right lane. Cars are slowing down and honking and swerving around the box. As I ride past, I start to run over the box but it had a little too much 'shape' and I just decide to kick the box. I kicked it and it did not move.

I stopped and walked back to get the box out of the road (good deed for the day sort of thing) and it was fairly heavy. Well I look inside and it contained a tall leather-backed bar stool. I took the chair out of the box and the shipping label said 11760 San Vincente (about 10 blocks east of where I was).

So, I tear off the shipping label and carry the chair to the Subway (sort of a funny site as I was riding my bike carrying a bar stool wrapped in plastic.

I walk in carrying the chair and the man behind the counter yells "My Chair! :D you saved my chair! You are a fine man! Where did you find my chair!"

Long story short... I get a free combo meal anytime I want. The end.

It would be even funnier if the next time you feel like a subway combo meal, he acts as if youre a stranger, you call him a lying arsehole and never come back again.

Wow, that is quite a reward. I guess we know where you are going to be eating lunch.

Insta karmic turnaround.

Well done on moving the chair, as most people seemed to think that the sheer force of their horns was going to move the box somehow?

I was actually laughing at the cars for honking, just before I kicked the box. I'm lucky I didn't run over the box, as I was planning, as I would have crashed for sure.:D and then they would have been honking at me... "Get out of the road stupid!".

This confuses me. You were on a bike and you were planning on running over a tall box? I mean, even if it were on its side it would be at least, I don't know, a foot and a half in width. o_O How did that seem like a good idea to you?

You're correct; it was on it's side and it was big, but it didn't look too strong, from a distance. I was going to run over it ( I was on my mountain bike going maybe 15 mph) but as I got closer it began to look bigger & "more strongly constructed" so I decided to swerve and just kick the big stupid box.

If I had run over it, it would not have been a good idea. I frequently have ideas that are not good. :)

If you ran into it, you'd just push it away. :)

How did the box get there in the first place?

The owner of the Brentwood Subway also owns a Subway in Malibu (he told me the story) and he was taking a few new chairs to his Malibu store. It fell off the back of his pick-up truck. It seemed to me, a bit too nice of a chair for a Subway, and he explained that his Malibu Subway is sort of fancy.:). Nice guy.

Oh, I don't think I get unlimited combos whenever I want, just a "combo meal anytime you want." One time... I think.

Just go in there and talk to the dude ... if you are good at talking to people he'll hook u up all the time.

I always get discounts at subway. I just talk to the lady at the register and she enters some promotional stamp coupon that they dont even use anymore
