Okay so in the past three days I have had two experiences I need advice wth:

#1, Simply Lemonade. Had a HUGE argument about whether or not this drink had pulp in this about work. I remember when this crap first hit the shelves of Walmart and it most definitely did not have pulp in it. Fast forward to today's workplace violence and yes, I did send an email to them to settle the score once and for all. They haven't responded yet (been less than 48 hours) but when they do do you think I'll get a free coupon?

#2, Goosebumps. I made a thread about buying my kid some Goosebumps books by R.L. Stine. Have you actually researched this dudes books? He was/is famous, but nowdays, good luck getting his books for less than 20$ a piece! Holy fucking shit batman! If anyone can find me a good resource to get his stories for a decent price I'd be forever grateful, but as it stands it looks like people went all beanie-babies on my ass and hoarded these to resell for 9000% market value and guess what, he's not publishing new books!!!

How in the holy hell can I get his books for a good price? Hell, brand new in a box set I would probably pay 200$ for his first 20 books (his books are like 150-200 pages each if I remember right). But noooo...people are selling the first FOUR for like 75$!!! Sweet mother of god!!!

I plan on writing this guy a personal letter. I have actually written it out, just need to print/sign/re-scan and mail at work tomorrow....

Has anyone had any luck emailing companies for free shit? Or guilt tripping people into giving you deals? #1 is clearly a publicity stunt. Well in reality it is a "The people I work with are retards so I'm going to prove them wrong and get some free shit out of it" kind of deal. #2 is a "Fuck you asshole how dare you charge that for your made up shit". Anyone had success though?

#1 - you need to find better things to argue about.

#2 - Goosebumps go for $7 per book on Amazon.

Guess I shouldn't have dumped that giant box of goosebumps and fear street for $40.

Plenty of goosebumps books on ebay uk site for £2. If not go and search some charity shops.

P.S Don't be one of the moaning numpties that tries to get free stuff, they are a blight on society.

Dude. That's 140$ for the first 20. Is that new? If that is used that is jacked. His stories were good but still kids books. I need a link.

Everything I've been finding are some no-named websites that say they are used.

Fucking hell you useless numpty go seach the internet instead of posting dumb shit here :p

Bro I've been searching, but thanks for nothing. The dudes books are sold by .ru sites for fucking outrageous prices. I don't feel comfortable buying. Why are his stories not sold by Amazon in box sets for reasonable prices? He's not a no name author, that's what I'm getting at!

Been a very long time but at a previous job we contacted a potato chip company who made very unique flavors. They were hard to find in the area so I called them and told them how much we all loved them and how we couldn't find them locally. They shipped us a case free of charge. It was awesome.

WTF? Arguing over lemonade pulp? Why would they give you a coupon for some?

Is R.L. Stine actually just one guy? Most kids and young adult books are written by a committee of english majors paid jack shit by major publishers. I'm guessing it must've actually just been some guy and they stopped as publishers wouldn't give up a cash cow like that.

I have several of them here. They're used (although some haven't actually been read). Might have to see how much can get for them since they'd probably get trashed otherwise.

Goosebumps is out of print. So, every book will be used. It ran from 1992-1997. There are 180 books (counting spin-off series). I know this because I read every single fucking one.

Well this is news to me. WTF. How can a book go 'out of print'? Once it's out there I mean...it's out there? 20$ A pop!? These things are like Sunday story prints. How the fuck can you justify 20$ per?

Has anyone had any luck emailing companies for free shit?

If your intention is to get free shit you're probably going to have trouble. But if you can write a reasonable, intelligent letter/email about a specific valid problem you had with a companies product they'll often send you free coupons to make up for it. The key is how you approach it.

i.e.

"I didn't like product xxx and think you owe me a replacement" is not going to pass the smell test.

but

"I love your product xxx and product yyy. I bought your new product zzz and didn't think it measured up. Compared to xxx and yyy it failed because.... I'll keep buying xxx and yyy because I know they're good, but if zzz was my first experience with your company it would probably be my last because I'd assume all your stuff was like that. Just thought you should know because it might be costing you business. "

And end. Don't ask for free stuff, odds are they'll offer it. I've done that a lot of times, always to express an honest opinion, never to solicit free stuff. If you come off as a loyal customer pointing out a problem in the product line it will probably get results. It will definitely get results for stuff like food products. Trying to score a free book set though, not going to happen.

Actually, I looked it up and most of the original series has been reprinted. A few books never made the reprint, though.

And a book is out of print when they stop printing new copies. Companies don't publish books forever.

I am surprised that he isn't still published. His books reek "money-makers" for generations

Should've read the rest of the OP. Wow, what a whiny bunch of bullshit. Waaaah, I had an argument with someone, you should give me free stuff! Publicity stunt? What the fuck?

Just wow at this thread. How do you even function in normal life? I take it you're some trust fund kid that always got what they ever wanted without knowing what it took to get it?

Save your military porn for your therapist, please. And you can get those books for free at your local library.
