Gospel, blah.

While that's going to be the biggest detractor to popularity, she does have some serious tallent. That's been obvious since she was a teenager. She writes great music, even if the words are trite :p

The suckage is STRONG with this one.

(And not the good kind of suckage, either. Ultra-religious and all...)

Get over your anti-religious sentiment and look at the tallent and music quality. She's good.

No, no she's really not.

She's mediocre at best. Martina McBride is easily just as good a singer. And I'll take Tarja Turunen over either of them any day for pure vocal talent.

(EDIT: And where do you get 'anti-religious', anyway?)

I believe that she's won a Grammy award.

The recording industry thinks that she's pretty good.

LOL - she won a Grammy for "Best Rock Gospel Album"

If you are merely moderately talented, it's easy to pigeonhole yourself into a niche you can pwn because of general lack of talent otherwise. (Seriously, most Gospel albums suck ass - nothing to do with religious perspective, they just SUCK. Poor orchestration, poor musical composition, poor vocals, etc. Doesn't take much to easily beat the average in this catagory!)

She'd have no chance if pitted against mainstream artists, classical artists, or even mainstream country artists.

Talk to me again about winning Grammy's when she gets 'Record of the Year', 'Best Classical Vocal Performance', 'Best Female {any genre} Vocal Performance', etc. (hint: she never will, she's not that good).
