Did a search for Citibank and didn't see anything so here it goes....

Citibank is offering a free Sony DVD player when you open and fund a Citibank Regular Checking account online with a minimum initial deposit of $1500 and pay two bills online within 60 days.

Go to offer.citibank.com and enter offer code CCYD or try this link. You can also call 800-374-9700.

The Sony DVD player model is DVP-NS425P

Offer expires June 30, 2004

This type of offer by Citibank usually requires you to maintain the account for at least 6 months, plus they don't automatically give it to you. You have to call them and demand it. Applying for the account requires LOTS of signatures/docs/craps through family experiences (my parents, my sister, myself). Honestly I'd recommend to stay away. Citibank sucks!

Not according to the offer details:

This offer is not available to Citibank Financial Centers. To receive this offer, you must open and fund a Regular Checking account online with the Citibank EZ Checking account package with a minimum initial deposit of $1500 by 6/30/04. Then, pay 2 bills at citibankonline.com within 60 days of funding the account. To begin you application, go to www.offer.citibank.com and use offer code CCYD or call (800) 374-9700. Your Sony DVP-NS425P will be shipped to you within 60 days of the end of the statement period in which the second bill payment appears. If the demand for the Sony DVP-NS425P exceeds our supply, we reserve the right to provide a comparable product in its place. Basic checking is not eligible for this offer. All accounts are subject to approval. Taxes, if any, are the responsibility of the customer. One offer per customer. Offer is not available to existing Citibank banking customers. Offer is made to U.S. residents 18 years of age of older only. Offer may be modified or withdrawn at any time without notice. Offer is not transferable.

Nothing about maintaining account for 6 months. As long as you make those 2 bill payments online within 60 days, the DVD player is yours. Calling and demanding it is optional...

I did the Citibank deal where they give you $150 for opening a similar account about a year ago. The $150 was supposed to be credited to my account (and my wife when she did it). Both of us had to call in and demand our $150 before it was credited. Their customer service was very very disappointing. I would make a request and it would never be fulfilled until I talked to a manager several levels up. I will never do business with Citibank again. Especially since this is only a $90 DVD player. It's not worth the hassle. YMMV of course.

I did the $150 deal as well. Once I took my money out they ignored my request to cancel the account and I started getting bills for $9.95 per mo for svc fees. Customer svc took care of that and I got the $150!

I guess you could snag the dvd player in about 4 months if you made the payments as soon as your account was open, assuming you can do wtihout the $1500 for that long. Interest wise, it's a better deal than earning .06 percent in savings.

Tuppence!
