Free software to rip CD to mp3, and to copy CD

I've looked through a bunch of freeware applications and just cannot find anything that's simple and really free. I'm on Windows 7. The two very basic functions that I want are:

1. Rip a CD to mp3's
2. Make a copy of a CD

That's it. I don't care if I need to use two different programs for this as long as they're simple and free. What do you all use? Lots of products out there and I'm tired of wading through them all! Thanks.

well, you cannot go wrong with foobar 2000 which is also the best mp3 player.

WMP will do that. Foobar2000 with the LAME plugin will also.

lol, use windows media player. There is rip option in windows media player. Even when you insert CD, there is always an option to select rip music. NO need to install any software.
