I just found out my college provides free download of Symantec Endpoint to students. So what, you say. Here's the kicker: I've been out of school for five years and yet my account is still active allowing me to download and get discounted softwares. No more reinstalling Windows and the 90 day trial of Norton Antivirus. Yes!

Why are you using norton? it sucks yo
I've heard they've improved it a lot with the most recent version or two, but I'm happy with Microsoft Security Essentials. I haven't yet seen a reason not to use it and it's got such a small footprint.

The straight Norton AV has been improved and runs lighter than it used to.
That doesn't seem to be the case for the 360 combo package.

For free AV's use MS Security Essentials or Avira.
If you want to pony up a bit of cash for wider coverage, go to Eset Nod32 or Eset Smart Security.

Microsoft Security Essentials is free, ethical (unlike pretending to still be a student), and a better choice than Norton.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't condone downloading the software from the college unless you meet their terms.

I have, however, resumed recommending Norton to everyone for anti-virus protection. Their latest version is the best I've found.

I like free Avira, and wouldn't take a full product in it's place(with the exception of Avira Pro).
