Free SMS (text message) service?

I have been wondering about this. I use Sprint and they have a webform where you can send text messages and read them too I believe, but I see no mention of whether it is free or not...

If you send and recieve text messages from a PC, isn't that e-mail?

I'm also looking for a web site that allows to send free sms text messages to international cell phones... thanks

Um no you wouldn't be able to receive unless you have a cellphone.

www.teleflip.com

You send an e-mail to ##########@teleflip.com and it delivers it. When I tried the service it took about 12 hours for it to deliver the message, and they put an advertisement on the end of the message.

You need the carrier.

If you don't know who the carrier is, you need to find out (sometimes you can use an Internet white-pages reverse phone lookup to find out).
