I don't like how people make clothes out to be a school expense. They act like the kids need new clothes for school and school alone. Unless you school has a uniform policy, then it doesn't count. Even then, they only need at most 5 sets of the clothes if you do laundry weekly.

I mean, do children run around naked in the summer and on weekends.... well, at least the average non-ATOT member child?

Who needs 10 outfits when they're six?

$30 / outfit is pretty bad, especially for a six year old. At Old Navy and the like, little kid pants are like $10.

Evidently you haven't ever been to a decent thrift store. They have near-new and new clothes for pennies on the dollar. I buy $50 shirts for $4.00, near new or new, at thrift stores for myself. My son and daughter get some really nice clothes from there and my wife finds clothes she would never consider paying for in the retail stores.

Are you afraid of cooties? Wash the clothes with a little bleach.

Do you think the clothes are worn out with holes in them? You won't find worn out clothing at a reputable thrift store.

It's your money, though. Spend it as you wish.:D

The requirement for school is that the kid is clean not new flashy clothes, and most 6 year old wouldn't care much for designer clothing because they often are uncomfortable.

Like Happy Puppy pointed out, you can get 2 pairs of shoes for less than $50 (I prefer to get new shoes for kids every 6 months, because their feet grow very quick & a perfect fit is very important). Shirts shouldn't cost much more than $10.00 for 5 (kids like colours & get dirty quickly), and pants cost a bit more than the shirts.

right...so 10 pairs of pants @ $15 each, plus 10 shirts @ $10 each...I dont skimp on the shoes...I had cheap shoes growing up and my feet are still messed up from that...so 2 pair of shoes @ 50, plus socks, undies, t-shirts and a new belt...

folks, let this be a lesson...an STD isnt the only thing than can come out of a fling

I don't know where you live, but around LA there are Vietnamese/Mexican/Chinese area that you can purchase 10 shirts for a total of $20.00 and pants are around $30.00 for 10 & shoes isn't much more.

10 pairs of shirts/pants outfit = $50.00
4 pairs of shoes = $50.00

Total = $100.00

I dont know any of those places...I buy stuff at the usual places, but only when on sale...everything I bought was at least 20% off, except the shoes....they always stick it to you on kids shoes...they know you need them...so they get you

don't buy anything at its original price. Check GAP and OldNavy often. You will find good clothes for great clearance prices. also Kohl's has upto 85% till tomorrow.

WTF do you need 10 outfits for? He's only going to school 5 days a week, that leaves the whole weekend to do laundry.

like I said...cheap shoes messed up my feet...so I am paranoid

and guys really...go to the mall sometime...I watched one lady drop $500 on one kid alone, and that was just shirts and pants. Kids are expensive, and I dont mind trimming down on some things so that he can have nice shoes and clothes. Priorities I guess...you guys sound like you would let your kid run around in the cheapest things you could get your hands on...yet I bet you all would have nice cars and nice clothes for yourself. Parenthood is about sacrifice. I learned that lesson long ago.
