GAKIC is a pretty new item so I don't think many have heard of it. Basically it's a new supplement that helps you immediately gain strength durring your workout and increases your resistance to muscle fatigue. It was developed by the University of Florida, the same people who invented Gatorade. I haven't personally evaluated the product but I have a sample on the way and look forward to trying it out.

Thanks for the info. But really these guys need to fire whoever's been doing their marketing. Who's going to buy something called 'gakic'. Sounds like the sound you make after puking something up.

The overwhelming consensus on other forums is that Gakic is pretty ineffective/useless, although some do say they see improvement, but its frequently waved off as placebo effect.

Product by Muscletech...so, it is automatically overhyped and overexaggerated, not to mention overpriced (though this is a free sample).

Personally, I wouldn't pay for it. Any product by Muscletech can be had for a lot cheaper in other places...especially if bought in bulk.

To be fair to ephedra, the people dying from it were probably not using it as intended. If you have a pre-existing heart condition and take ephedra, it may prove to worsen the situation. If you are of the folk who think "well, this dosage works, let's try 10x the dosage"...then natural selection works its wonders.

In any event, ephedra ban was overturned by a judge.

I do agree that supplements are such a small part of the equation. The main focus should be on diet and training (diet being a good 75% of the equation, and training being like 24%). Supplements are meant to aid you, but nothing short of anabolics will give you any significant results.

As far as prove supplementation goes: creatine, multi-vitamin, fish oil. Some would say whey protein, but I consider that food.

It never ceases to amaze me how much money people spend on this snake oil. Look at the abstract of the pilot study - n=13. This is about as reliable as rolling a die 13 times, hitting a number more than twice and attributing it to something other than chance.

This crap isn't evaluated by the FDA (read: it's not supported by real science); Orrin Hatch fights tooth and nail to keep supplements out of the FDA's grip - maybe because supplements are a multibillion dollar industry in Utah & its lobbyists know what would happen if their products were subjected to the same scientific rigor as real pharmaceuticals?

There's a sucker born every minute.
