Free Real-time Gmail notifier (IMAP)?

Dougmeister

I can't get Outlook nor Thunderbird to work properly on a certain computer, and I'd like to get real-time notification on a particular IMAP Gmail account.

Would be best if it natively hid in the system tray, but I have 3rd party software to do that if necessary.

Any suggestions?

Edit: I'm trying to get PopTray to work (got it from NoNags), but I can't figure out how to install the IMAP plugin...?

Edit #2: Google Toolbar and Google Gmail Notifier won't work due to Edit #3

Edit #3: I use multiple GMail accounts throughout the day, so Gmail Notifier won't work. It detects what account you're using in your browser and checks it. I need it to stay on a specific account.

Did you know GMail does POP3? It requires SSL encryption, on port 995. I use only POP3; I've never accessed GMail with IMAP.

Edit: Have you tried Portable Thunderbird?

Yeah, I know it does POP3. I just like IMAP because it keeps the e-mails in synch across several computers and I should get new messages instantly.

I didn't try Portable T-Bird yet. The problem I'm having with that is that it is causing my computer to crash. Other than that, I love it ;-)
