No specific numbers are required for where it says "Serial Number". I just put in anything and it went through. Got a confirmation that it was shipped already.

I got an e-mail saying they shipped for $0.00, using AirBorne. Looks good to me, so I decided to let everyone in on it. It's good until the end of April (or if they run out, which ever comes first).

This is real - I ordered one last week and it said it would not ship until March... Guess what showed up *via Airborne!!!* yesterday! It's a fairly small book and the CD has mostly demos, but still...it was free :)

Neato.

the serial# is just the number off the back of your hand-held device.

They're probably just collection these to see what product you have....

This is supposed to be only for people who have purchased a Pocket PC. Of course, if Microsoft wants to give it to anyone, that is their problem... :)

Can someone explain to me why you would want this if you don't have a PocketPC? The book is more like a pamphlet, only about 80-90 pages and paperback, and the CD is all WinCE software. Or is there some kind of it's-free-I-must-have-it compulsion that I'm missing out on? :)

I'd be surprised if Borders would take this as a return! It definitely looks and feels like a promo - it's no big For Dummies book, it's just a little saddle-stapled booklet. But order away...I guess M$ can afford to dump money out to Airborne and the For Dummies Press!

Bombed and got this page:

Thats ok, I don't like the PocketPC anyway. Got a handspring a while back and have been very happy with it. PalmOS is much more stable, has a lighter footprint and runs quicker with longer battery life. Oh yea, and it works on my Mac.
