Or, for that matter, the "700 club" part. Geez, it's just a bumper sticker, guys & girls...... no need to make this a P&N thread, ya know?

Meh, probably cost them a dollar to make it and ship it to me, maybe just 50 cents, but my mailbox is less than 50 ft from my trash can.

Why don't they underline the "with liberty and justice for all" part? What with gitmo you'd think caring religious types would be more concerned with that... The under god part is kind of obvious... like "One nation, under God, under the sky, above the ground"

I'm gonna cut mine up and make it say "I pledge allegiance to the 700 Club." That more what this is about anyway.

This always kills me. All the zealots defending this always forget that:

a) The "under God" part was only added in the fifties, and not by the founding fathers; and
b) Most of the founding fathers were not Chrstians, but in fact, Deists.

Our founding fathers actually feared religion so much, they went out of their way to exclude it from the checks and balances of the state.

So, if we want to be congruent with the principles of our founding fathers, we should all work to remove religion from politics and the state.

Lets forget about God, and the 700 club for a minute, and focus on the fact this is NOT a hot deal .

Who really comes to the HD forum for bumper stickers?

fixed to be true. why do you think there are so many masonic symbols on our money, state buildings, etc...

everyone should understand that our country was founded on high moral standards and things such as the 10 comandments (not because they are christian, but because they are RIGHT!)

Unfortunately, our nation isn't so "under God" anymore.

I am in for one, too. I do agree with the above sentiment, though. Heaven help us!!

You mean this? ;)

Authored by American diplomat Joel Barlow in 1796, the following treaty was sent to the floor of the Senate, June 7, 1797, where it was read aloud in its entirety and unanimously approved. John Adams, having seen the treaty, signed it and proudly proclaimed it to the Nation.
...
Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

You do realize that the original pledge of allegiance didn't mention god right? And that it was put in during a period of religious fervor?

Idiot.

EDIT: Hmm, just finished reading the other replies and noticed that a bunch of people already mentioned it. Oh well, he's still an idiot.

Seriously though, as someone who was just kinda brought up without much religious guidance in general, things like this slowly managed to imprint onto my mind the idea that God exists. It took a long time for this to slowly change...in fact it was very very slow until one day when it all just kind of hit me. And on that day I no longer had to say that I was an agnostic who believed in some kind of higher power. No, on that day I become a pure athiest.

This is not to say that we all have to be athiests, but crap like this is just plain brainwashery.
