I wouldn't want someone "practicing" plastic surgery on me. But if my taxes are going to fund training for surgeons so they can do top-notch facial reconstructions on injured soldiers, then I'm all for it.

Unless military medicine has changed a hell of a lot since I was in the Navy I would run far far away from any military doctor doing any kind of surgery on me let alone elective cosmetic surgery.

Have you any idea how little these folks are paid??? I say free plastic surgery is the LEAST the government could do for them.

At the same time, being a veteran myself, I have to agree with Linflas. I would be VERY weary of having elective surgery done by military doctors. Most are human meat grinders.

no kidding, the number of maimed and injured soldiers surviving due to advanced battlefield medicine keeps increasing. we rarely hear of all the maimed/injured soldiers, the numbers reported are just the dead. people losing parts of their faces etc..they deserve whatever tax money they can get.

Facial reconstruction is one thing, and anybody injured in battle deserves everything possible in order to continue as high quality a life as possible.

Elective-surgury boob-jobs are quite a different thing, and I don't think taxpayers should be up for paying the bill. (Let's try paying all of these people a little better, instead of handing out elective surgury perks to a few.) They're really expanding the definition of "support our troops."

Let's leave the free/cheap boob-jobs for Hooters to give to its employees. Such issues are best handled by the private sector, don't you think?
