Starting 6-17 purchase any Half-Life game $19.99 each ( H/L Game of the year, Counterstrike, or the brand new Blue Shift which includes Opposing Force ), and get free instantly Gunman Chronicles.

I called best buy and they have no knowledge of this deal. Could you tell me where you found it posted, or what is going on exactly? If it is a valid deal, then this is pretty hot.

Thanks.

I checked and I can't find any mention of this deal.... I even called the local B&M and they had no idea what I was referring to. If you could provide a link or something to the flyer, they would honor it. You know how it goes though. I really want in on this as it is a hot deal since I love playing half-life and am eager to get blueshift.

Trent, look at the date. Starting 6-17

Wait untill the Sunday adds come out, then go check with your local Best Buy

Note this is 6-16

i checked too...if its real then its worth buying another half life(i aready own a copy) for blue shift...i wanna play blue shift...

I get the ads in the paper on Saturdays and it is in there on page 2, buy any Half-Life game
the price for Blue Shift, Half Life, and Counter Strike is $19.99 so it is well worth it.

Can some of your HL gamers break it down in a simple list what each of these games includes and which is best (in order)? It gets confusing there are so many different packaged versions of HL. I bought HL: GOTY a few months ago from CompUSA B&M for $9.99 that was a good deal, right?

In the beginning, there was HL, followed by Opposing Force, the first expansion pack. Blue Shift is the second expansion back, and supposedly, Blue Shift includes Opposing Force, so if you buy BS, you'll have the entire HL collection.

There are of course several popular mods of HL, including TFC, CS, DoD, Firearms, etc. These can all be downloaded for free from various sites if you have the original HL. Check out planethalflife.com for all the details about the HL universe. Hope that helps, Rossman!!

But you'll still need the original Half-Life, right? If Blue Shift includes the original Half-Life as well as Oposing Forces, that is a heck of a deal!

I've been looking for good deal on Half-Life, just to play CounterStrike, but I want the flexability to play some of the other mods too. That pretty much rules out buying the stand-alone CounterStrike package. Wish I could have got in on the CompUSA deal, but there are no B&M's near me.

LOL I like how you said "In the beginning".

Yep that pretty much summed it up, thanks for the explanation. I already have HL: GOTY so that should be enough for me.

I'm pretty sure Blue Shift doesn't have the original Half Life. But you don't need it to play Blue Shift either. But if you already have Half Life it updates the models with the high definition pack.

Also, it doesn't contain the single player version of Opposing Force, only the multiplayer parts.

Again, this is what've heard. If I'm wrong, someone correct me...

Blue Shift does not include the original HL. I was just replying to Rossman, who said he already had that. Tangent also mentioned that BS might only include the MP part of Opposing Force - I'm not sure on this, could be right.

Which Half-Life game is the best to get for online games? Counterstrike? .. or can others be updated to allow Counterstrike play?

webley -- counterstrike is a free download if you own half-life.
if you don't already have half-life, get that.
if you have half-life, get blue shift, as it contains the opposing force MP anyway...

First, I'm not a hardcore gamer (although my wife would disagree). I'm about two-thirds of the way through Half-Life (the first FPS I've really gotten into) and I'm excited about playing online. I keep hearing Counterstrike, counterstrike. Is it superior to Team Fortress Classic? As good, just different?

Me confused.

they are mods of halflife. the weapons are not even the same. they just use halflife's or quake1's engine.

InfiniteJest, CS is a "team" game that has no teamwork for the most part, just fighting,(like TFC). DOD is about the same, both games are much fun, but the major difference over TFC of both CS and DOD is the different models and maps, a nice change, imo, but not a "new teamplay concept" game as it is now being played. I have more fun with TFC, even with little or no organized teamplay, it seems like there is more to do in that game because there are more models available than DOD and CS, but other players are sick of TFC because they are burned out on TFC and want something new. My personal opinion.

Thanks for the replies. In essence, it's probably going to boil down to my personal preferences, eh?

Personally, I like the idea of really getting into it, i.e. role playing, and I think that requires more team-focused play. In fact, I plan on taking advantage of Roger Wilco. I hear it's make the games much more intense. Hey man, I just like the fact, that I have options. Two good games are always better than one.

Keep the valve open.

I purchased Half Life - Game Of The Year ( Blue Shift and Counter Strike clearly says they require Original Half Life). Interestingly that sales person gave a rebate form for the Gunman Chronicles. The rebate is one of the following titles:
- Hoyle Solitaire
- You don't know Jack Vol 1
- Deer Avenger
- 3-D Ultra Cool Pool
- SAWT 2
But Shipping and Handling is $4.95.

Circuit City is selling Gunman Chronicles for $29.99.

Do you guys have any idea about the following PC games:
- Hoyle Solitaire
- You don't know Jack Vol 1
- Deer Avenger
- 3-D Ultra Cool Pool
- SAWT 2

Which one is better one?
