My video collection is starting to fatten and my drives need relief.
Dumb as it sounds I cannot seem to find any simple, one-click programs that do x265 from a variety of inputs. You guys probably know more than I do. I've tried working with video in the past and I'm just not that good. I've used ACDsee's video program and even that wasn't simple enough for me.
Apparently Mac users today actually get a free video editor and its good, first time in my life I am jealous of them.

DOWNLOADING AVC NOW! Have heard of it, never used it.

OK, making an x265 was not intuitive but I got it. Starting now.

IT WORKED!
Had to stop using VLC in the background and it worked without crashing.
My 1080p h264 was cut in half, from 2.6 gigs to 1.3. And it looks just as good as the original.
HOWEVER, my 480p vid tripled in size. I do not know why. I set it to original dimensions and frame rate and audio. Gonna have to look at that, but for now I am happy.
Before I go to bed I will batch process a bunch of files. See how long it takes and how they look.

My rig is plenty stable.
AVC is literally the only program I have that crashes frequently.
It did it again late last night. I set it to batch process a dozen vids and from the looks of things it did about 10 percent of the first one and then crashed again.
NO OTHER PROGRAM on my system is doing that.
Its not my computer.
