Currently I run a computer at home 24x7 so I can access a couple virtual machines running on the computer from work. The computer idles 99% of the time. Using a kill-a-watt meter I figured out it cost me ~$13 per month in electricity to run the computer 24x7. Are there any free or cheap cloud instances available that would be powerful enough to run this same setup (i.e. windows or linux host in the cloud with a couple VM's running under VirtualBox on the host)? By cheap I mean less than the $13 per month in electricity I am paying now for a dedicated computer at my house.
Some Googling pretty much keeps pointing back to Amazon's free AWS instance. Problem is it seems way to light on memory (~600 megs) and it is only free for a year. Any other, more powerful options that fit my needs? Thanks.
