Wow! This is first time I have ever seen Microsoft not charge for shipping and tax on one of these service packs. Good deal for those that don't have a MS subscription service.:)

Cool. Thanks! For server admins and tech support people, this will come in handy.

I ordered this a few weeks ago. First they told me it was backordered, then it finally shipped and took a couple of weeks to get to me (Media Mail with Delivery Confirmation). I haven't applied it yet...

I ordered mine. Thanks. I already get the software free from download but I am a CD pack rat. I have gotten several service packs free and I currently get the MSDN library CD's for free.

One thing,PC Magazine says they are using the service packs to CLOSE the actiation holes! That's probably why they don't charge for shipping!

Yeah does anyone know if this "service pack" will deactivate pirated versions? I'm sure there are some people out there that have bought custom built PCs with pirated versions and they don't even know it (not that anyone here would knowingly have a pirated version of course ;))

This is off the record: worst hing that could happen is a "reformat" or system restore! using their own "weapon" against "them"

Actually, I've gotten a lot of free CDs from MS... They usually give away Service Pack discs like this one for all their products.
