I wonder when navteq will bring out its update for my alpine.. or rather alpine will bring out the update for navteq. I updated my unit last year in august but that database was from 2005

Looks to be a promotion that is activated based on the serial number of your TomTom.

If you put in a serial number and it says it's 49.00, perhaps your particular model does not support the maps OR perhaps your model does not qualify for a free upgrade.

TomTom does regular updates, but this is a very special update, with a lot of added Points of Interest. I regularly download software from TomTom, but this is something a bit more hefty. Nearly 2GB of data. Sounds spiffy.
