DANGER, DANGER! (flailing arms)

Stay far away from wirefly (inphonic)... read up on them in the rest of the FW thread or CNET or Resellerratings...

I know from firsthand experience- unfortunately.

I've seen those posts. FWIW, I've ordered from Wirefly twice (3 phones total). Always got phones quickly w/ no problems. Rebates were slow, but submitted on time and never had an issue. Either way, this deal is no rebates. Just nothing but free.

With Cingular, do you need to renew your contract any time you switch plans?

Motorola RAZR V3 (Camera Phone) 1 399.99 199.99
$199.99 Instant Rebate 1 -199.99

Package Value $ 399.99 $ 0.00

FREE Bluetooth Headset ($79.99 Value) 1 0.00

Total Cost $0.00

So, the rebate is instant. You dont have to actually pay them anything. Thats how it looks to me. Right?

Anyone know the phone number to call Wirefly? I can't find it on their website. I'd like to place a family plan order, one silver Razr 3 with bluetooth (free after instant rebate) and one black Razr 3 (free after two $125 rebates). I also want to find out if porting over a third line later will mess up the rebates.

Also, does anyone know anything about the quality of the bluetooth headsets they are including?

I got in on this around 1pm yesterday, no charge on my card at all...pending charges from Cingular to arrive on first bill.
Already received my FedEx tracking info, phones will be here in 2 days according to their site

Worked great for me, hell its free...try it....you have nothing to lose
Not like you can get nailed on a MIR this time.

Honestly I'm just worried about getting into a 2 year contract with cingular. Verizon is king here in dc. I'm with nextel right now but my contract is up and its time to upgrade to a better provider. I just don't know if cingular will be good.

I did the wirefly thing when the V551 phones were on sale. They are fast to deliver the phones, but if you are doing a family play, make sure to talk to someone. They f'd up when they communicated to Cingular. We ended up with 2 seperate plans instead of one family plan. Cingular was more than happy to fix it but it would have been nice to get it right from the start.

Also, lately our phones have been kinda crapping out on us. We both have V551 motorolas and they both reboot when they lose signal on I405 outside bellevue, also we dont get very good reception in the house. These V551 phones may be to blame, or they might have been defective or somthing, maybe thats why they can give them away, I dunno.

Overall I am happy that they were free, and they transfered our numbers without any problems. I would give Wirefly a 3 of 5 stars. If the deal was hot enough, I would go through them again.

Hope this helps.

I'm in the DC area and Cingular coverage has been excellent since they merged the 2 networks (Cingular GSM and AT&T GSM). If you are a Metro rider, though, Verizon Wireless rules. Verizon Wireless is the only carrier that works on the Metro.

I got my family plan through Wirefly and the box included a pre-paid UPS return label and return instructions if you aren't satisfied with the service. Every cell phone company has a money back guarantee in case you don't like the coverage. I think this was mandated by congress.

I think the money back guarantee is 15 days so make sure you use the phone in all your usual routes immediately to make sure you like the coverage, and also treat your phone with kid gloves until you decide to keep it for sure. You know, don't keep it in your pocket with your keys where it'll get scratched up.

Reading the terms and conditions, you might get dinged if you try this. You definitely can't port your phone number to the new account and get away with it. But even if you accepted a new phone number, they might ding you $250 if you use the same information/social security #, etc. to set up the new account. I don't know how they track it. In the end, I'm just not sure it's worth trying to trick them.

It appears to me that you only get the free bluetooth headset if you sign up for the $59.99 plan, or higher. If you go with the $39.99 plan, you only get the phone, not the headset.

Looks like they changed the offer. I'll update the original post
