It is blockbuster but not really. They just bought them so they can get the research data and see if it's worth it to jump into the game. I think my local blockbuster didn't get dvds till beginning of 1999. I had to go to Hollywood video back in 1997 when I back my dvd player to rent dvds. So they just take longer. Well, hell, now I'll sign up with these guys too filmcaddy.com and see the turnaround time. The #1 thing though is I want to get the local thing from blockbuster ($29.99 for spiderman is too much)
$22.99 for three DVDs out at any one time, $17.99 for two DVDs (2) at the local blockbuster (currently in a few select cities)
"Netflix has signed up 742,000 customers, four years since it launched. Blockbuster has signed up more than 200,000 customers at the 500 stores that had the program before last week. Blockbuster is testing in New York area, Seattle, Phoenix, and Houston, and last week it added Salt Lake City."
Also interesting from the article was that in 1999, 15% of total revenue for blockbuster was from late fees (aren't we all shocked)
ok so now I'm with rentmydvd.com (screw them they've gone sour beyond belief)
greencine.com (good for anime, foreign, etc. no mainstream) (2 week trial)
walmart.com/dvdrentals (just signed up but it seemed like there were too many 'Very Long Wait' so we shall see. (1 month trial)
hmm I was with netflix from 1999 till 2001...they went to hell....but now I'm reading stuff like they don't suck anymore so who knows.
