Thanks Dimwit. I've been a subscriber for years and I've debated whether it would be worth it to have the online version just for the convenience. Having the ability to search and being able to access away from home are probably worth the cost. Now I can try it out free, then decide if I'm willing to pay.

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!

(sorry for yelling) but MAN, have I been wanting this for a LONG TIME! I LOVE this magazine! I think it's the best spent $$ besides an ISP! (for those poor souls who have to pay)

God Bless!

Thanks a lot.

don't forget to ck. out the "Best and Worst Used Cars." A list that changes only on a yearly basis. Something worth printing out and having after this Month is up...for those who don't subscribe @ the end of this! ;) HOPEFULLY, they'll offer something SUPER special to keep us on! THAT would ROCK! ;)

Great timing, I was thinking of buying a new SUV at the end of the month.

This will make it alot easier to do research and do cross-comparisions.

I hope their site is faster than 2 years ago. I had bought subscription, and finally just gave up trying to use the site b/c it crawled.

RE: Site Speed - I purchased a 1mo subs. about 5mo's ago when we were getting ready to move into our new home. I needed to do some reading up on Washer/Dryer combo's and figured I'd spend the ~$4 for a 1mo. membership. Even with the membership, The site speed on some days was very slow and at times I couldn't even login (and I was on a broadband connection so it wasn't me). When I was able to get to the reviews they left me with more questions than answers. Many models were NOT listed or tested. I ended up having to do a lot of searching on groups.google.com and elsewhere for opinions. I guess they are having serious trouble in funding their tests.

FWIW, I also was looking for information on Baby Products (not just buying guidelines). It turned out that they hardly had any product information that I was looking for there either. Amazon Reviews and Epinions were very helpful in that category--Consumer Reports was a waste.

Also, if you ever do decide to subscribe you HAVE to cancel manually on the day you want it to end--not in advance. If you wait to long, they auto-renew and bill your CC. For a business setup to help consumers, I'm surprised they are setup this way. They should give the option to auto-cancel at the end of the month! I don't feel gipped, the one month fee was about the price of a magazine in the store, so, It's cheap enough. There just wasn't enough content for me to want a yearly subscription.

Thanks, but a warning to those who may overvalue the word of CR. eg:

Floor-standing speakers. All the tested models were competent performers, and many are fine choices for playing bassy music very loud. But our test results yield little reason to choose this style of speaker over more compact options.

LOL

At least, I'm sure the audiophiles among you are laughing. I would take their word about washers and driers, but some of the things they rate should best be left to people with knowledge and experience.
