Updated links shown below as of 18-April-2005
LucidLink Home Office (3 user) usually has an MSRP of $99. Please note: this offer is a 90-day marketing experiment and might not be continued. However, the licenses will never expire.

This might be very useful for anyone trying to setup or secure a wireless home network. LucidLink Home Office Edition allows you to setup a very secure wireless network with a few clicks. If you have one of about a dozen routers listed with a bullet on their Compatibility Guide, it will even automatically configure your Wireless Access Point for you. LucidLink also easily secures 30 other wireless routers, access points and NICs.

The home edition supports up to 3 wireless Windows XP/2000 users and the Security Management Console software runs on any Windows XP/2000/2003 system that is wired to your network and must be ON to provide authorization to a wireless client. The real beauty of LucidLink is that it provides enterprise grade security that's easier to setup than typical home grade security using Pre-Shared Keys. It is based upon RADIUS server technology with Temporal Keys and encryption that would take longer than the projected life of the universe to break for each packet sent (using today's technology). As I understand it, LucidLink even increases the security of older WEP devices.

A tour of the product is at

and the Compatibility Guide is at

The FREE 3-user Home Office Edition is available for download now at

Dear Partner:

I want to apologize for the flood of recent e-mails, but I feel it's important to keep you informed of some marketing campaigns that we're rolling out, rather than blind side you by not communicating enough.

Starting this week, we will be offering LucidLink Home Office Edition at no cost through a number of avenues including through our website. This e-mail is to share with our channel partners our thought process and discuss how you can leverage this offering to grow your wireless business.

Why offer LucidLink Home Office Edition for Free?

Partner Response has been Tremendous ? When we offered our resellers free 3-user licenses for a limited time, we were pleasantly surprised by the great response. We heard from several of our partners that we should extend this offer to the public as an excellent way to seed the market demand for larger LucidLink packages. We listened, and this program is the result.

Seeing is Believing - LucidLink is getting incredible reviews from editors, resellers and end users alike. Most users tell us that they had to see LucidLink to believe it. Much of the world has been living with the paradigm that wireless security has to be difficult if it's going to be secure. It's hard to imagine that rock-solid Wi-Fi security can be so easy to deploy.

We agree with our partners that offering a free low-end version of LucidLink is going to expand the base of believers far quicker than we could with any other marketing program we could offer.

Market Education ? Unsecured Wi-Fi is the biggest threat to network computing today, yet it is not very well understood. A simple $50 access point can blow a hole through multiple layers of network security and open up direct access the network to the most casual attackers. Hackers can attack an open (or poorly secured) network from over a mile away with a simple $49 antenna and access the network as if no security barriers we in place at all.

Our goal is increase awareness of the need for Wi-Fi security with a simple, strong solution that home users can adopt at no cost, and get the same level of protection that Fortune 500 companies deploy in their networks.

We are currently experimenting with the Home Office Edition free offer for the next 90 days. We may or may not choose to extend the offer depending on the results of the program.

The home edition supports up to 3 wireless Windows XP users and can be administered from any connected (not wireless) Windows 2000 or XP system.
The 30 day trial download is available now at
http://www.lucidlink.com/Product_Information/download_trial.asp
and, beginning next Monday, there will be a link to a procedure allowing you to request a free serial number, so you can continue using the product after the trial period. The free serial number will only work with the 3 user version, although there is also a 30-day trial available of a 10-user Small Business product as well.

If you were to call the Tech Support phone number given on that page, they would tell you that it's only temporary while they are making some changes.

Sorry, but I don't work for InterLink/LucidLink and I am not their webmaster. I'm just passing along a tip about a nice freebie. At the time I posted, I had just used the link within the previous hour, so it must have been deactivated since then.

For now, you might try this one:

Well, it looks interested. Waiting to see if it reappears. But it doesn't appear to support/tolerate PDAs which would severly reduce its usefulness to me.

well now the button is active but just takes you to http://www.lucidlink.com/Product_Information/demoreg.asp and I'll pass on that .. :(

Seems reasonable to me:

"You must include your e-mail address with this form. You will immediately receive a download link via e-mail for the trial version of this product."

There's a PocketPc version testing at the moment.

The trial lasts for 30 days, I think its stating that the will give you a free s/n to continue after the trial

so they are giving the s/n away for 90 days, then they will reevaluate
eh?

Duh!

LucidLink might not continue giving out free serial numbers after the 3 month marketing trial. That doesn't mean the serial number only works for 3 months!

Once you unlock the 30-day trial with the serial number, it's just as if you bought the full product for $99 and you can use it forever!
