For a limited time, StorageReview.com sponsor http://www.hypermicro.com/ is offering a free LSI 64-bit Ultra160 host adapter to any order of an IBM Ultrastar 36Z15 by an SR reader! That's a $70 value. Just make sure you mention promotion code SR-Z15 in your phone purchase or in the comments section of your online order. 68-pin Ultra160 36Z15 drives start at just $129 from HyperMicro, bringing the entry cost of 15,000 RPM SCSI computing to previously unheard of lows!

A couple notes:

1) Keep in mind that the LSI controller is a bare card rather than a kit. As a result, you'll need a separate LVD SCSI cable. Some of you may already have one lying around; others can choose to order a basic 3-position cable (including a requisite LVD terminator - HyperMicro Part # R68x3TPE-SE/LVD) for $39 or go all the way up to insanely expensive custom-made setups from outfits such as Granite Digital. Its your choice .

2) This offer, just as all other HyperMicro orders placed by SR readers, qualifies for free shipping!

3) Limit one free SCSI card per customer.

So, if you've been contemplating entering the SCSI world yet have been turned off by the high associated costs, support your favorite storage website (SR!), the best storage reseller (HyperMicro!), and get a great SCSI deal (15k RPM + 64-bit Ultra160 controller!) all with one action .

Cut and paste from storage review.

I think I'll give this a ago. Which of the drives would you get, I was was thinking the 36 gig? Also I'm using an Adaptec 2906(?) for my HP scanner, can I put the Scanner on the new card? The scanner uses the external connector on the Adaptes card.

You might wanna edit the title to include the "with purchase" part of the deal. Good post though! It's hard to find good SCSI adapters for free!

Just a bump.

Thought someone might know about the question I listed above.
