Heh..funny... "average business spends $250 to set up a new PC"

takes us 6minutes to image, 5 mins to configure..... Sure doesn't cost $250 for 11min work...if it did, I'd be outta job.

bf,
This couldn't have been more timely for me. I appreciate it - even temporary FREE is great! :D:D:D

Average business, meaning incompetants :p

I used Norton Ghost 2003 to ghost my 20GB over to my 80GB laptop drive.
Edit: Forgot to mention I went from a Thinkpad 600x to a T22 without a hitch.

Interesting. Might be useful for people I know who don't want to re-setup everything when they get a new computer.

Is this a one time use or can it be installed on multiple pairs of machines?

If I have 3 different pairs of machines I need to perform a migration can I use this one download on all three?

I downloaded this right away, never installed, and have gotten half a dozen bumbling emails on what the offer really is.

I still couldn't say for SURE how or what it does. That is all the evaluation I needed to decide to stay with Ghost.

This is the worst piece of junk ever. It says it successfully transferred all my programs&settings over, but none of the programs worked, I had prompts constantly saying files were missing. At least there was a good reverse transfer option that saved my computer from complete heck. I thought this software sounded too good to be true.

I finally got a good serial number.

What this program is supposed to do is successfully copy your old programs (say accounting software) that you cannot afford to replace onto a new system. This would be good if you wanted to move your accounting software from your windows 95 box to a windows xp box.

Ghost just makes an image of the drive. Laplink (at least in theory) is supposed to surgically transpose a program from one computer to another.

Getting it and sending the link to a friend who REALLY needs it! He can then transfer the data from his old Pentium100 using a Parallel cable since he doesn't have USB or any technical skill at all. He doesn't want to transfer programs anyway, just the data from them. (Documents, etc.)

Thanks OP!!
