free image editing software?

I am looking for some good image editing software. I downloaded JASC PaintShop Pro before, but it has a 30 day trial limit or something like that. All I have is Adobe Photo Deluxe which isn't the greatest. Also, would anybody happen to know of any software that turns a portrait of a teenager into an old fogey? Something that would make them have wrinkles, grey hair, sagging... I might be able to do it with Photo Deluxe but it would take awhile.

The GIMP rocks. I still have yet to figure out how to draw a straight line, though.

As far as photo editing goes, it is close to photoshop, quality wise. Script-Fu is awesome.

My vote is for MS Paint.

GIMP is great, but you also try Photo Wizard, or Strata 3D.
