OK- Let's see if I can explain what I want to do.
I live near a free wireless hotspot, but it only comes in well in one room of my apartment. Thankfully, that room has a computer. What I would like to do is this:
1) Share the internet between at least two computers and an Xbox, one of which is in range of the free hotspot signal;
2) Maintain a private secure wireless network for my Xbox and second computer.
Both computers are currently capable of 802.11b wireless via USB and have ethernet ports on-board. I also have a cheap wireless router with 4 hard ports plus the WAN port. It can only function as an access point.
Can I use the computer in range of the hotspot to somehow "feed" the internet connection through the router to the Xbox and second computer? If so, how? If not, what additional equipment might make it work?
I hope the above is clear. Thanks for your help.
