MSN Hotmail Member Services

I received an update on August 18 and it said nothing of the expanded inbox, though it did cover the antivirus and calendar additions.

Yes, I have Gmail also...but I've had many things set up with my Hotmail account for about 6 years now.

I was wondering that too... especially after getting the "You are running out of space" mail yet again.

Typical MS, over promise and deliver very little..LOL.

Seriously, I have this hotmail account for years (before hotmail was sold to MS) and I still don't have the 250MB extra yet. Don't feel bad, OP, you are not alone.

I wonder if for some reason they have to manually change the value of the size of the storage limit and thats why it's taking forever.

Do you get 250MB if you register a new account?

I believe companies like hotmail and yahoo have to start increasing the mailbox size because I have heard the google plans to introduce email in the near future with 1GB mailboxes!!

GMElias:
Google's "GMail" has been testing for quite a while now. Check one of the threads on this forum dedicated to GMail invitations.

Also, I believe GMail has a 2 GB storage limit.

My account is still restricted to 2MB storage. Other Hotmail users are reporting that they now have a free 250 MB storage as promised in a July 8 email that I received from Hotmail. Some have signed up for new accounts to receive the expanded inbox, while others received it automatically. My problem is probably related to the age of my account. I believe that it is nearly 6 years old, and Hotmail has changed many times since I registered it. Other enhancements were promised along with the expanded storage, including an increase in the size of sendable attachments. How can I verify that I receive all of the free upgrades when you fix my account?

Dear Member,

Thank you for writing back to MSN Hotmail Technical Support.

I understand your concern regarding the storage space in your Hotmail account.

As you know, MSN is upgrading storage limits for customers. With over 170 million Hotmail users we are in the process of upgrading, this is going to take some time. I can inform you generally when your account will upgraded:

? Initial markets (US, UK, JP, CA, AU, DE, FR, and ES): Yes, later this year MSN will be increasing the storage limits on Hotmail to 250MB. However, this change has not yet happened and the current storage limits on Hotmail is 2MB.

? Remaining World Wide Markets: We are in trial in other markets with increased free storage today to ensure a great user experience before we launch broadly. We will communicate to you once the 250MB is available in your market.

Thank you very much for your patience and I assure you that we will promptly investigate your inquiry as soon as we receive the information from you.

Sincerely,

Vamsi Karatam

Is this BS?

Those of you who received the increase: What region does Hotmail think you are in?

WTF? I've used the same hotmail address for maybe 6 years now, and I didn't get the free upgrade?!

I'm glad I read this thread, cause now I know what Gmail is. I've been longing to be rid of Hotmail ever since my storage level reached critical a while ago. Not only is the storage small and the attachments weak, but the stupid thing filters out half the correspondence I want to keep!!

i'm still waiting for the promised upgrade also.

for you who have been upgraded, do you receive any notification when you were upgraded? or do you just login to hotmail and all of the sudden the capacity changes? i need to know this because i only use Outlook to read my Hotmail.

The change appears to just randomly happen. I think they are updating the newest accounts first. My wife's opened her's about 3 years ago and it's already at 250MB.(no notification, it's just there) I started mine around 96 or so and I still don't have it.

2 MB limit here also...had my primary account for like 5 years I think.

Have 2 msecondary accounts, 1 of them is about 3 years old, the other one is well over 6 years old.
