When I was in Sams the other day they had the Lite-On DVD recorder for $139 (although I swear it was cheaper in store then on the website) without rebates, I wonder how these wold compare....

Thanks, I had missed a previous sale on this Artec DVD recorder, so I jumped on it this time.

A couple of notes:
The player has 5-channel audio out, including (I think) DTS. Useful for a few people.
The player can play MPEG4, meaning that it should be divx/xvid compatible. I'd much rather pay $70 extra for this unit vs. the Phillips player, and get a unit that records as well.
 
nice nice unit. firmware upgrade allows for MPEG4/DivX/XviD playback. progressive scan, dts output, 6 mode recording, $130 shipped. sounds good to me, IM IN
