Seriously though, I've been reluctant to get in on this free army stuff. I didn't want to give them my address for the America's Army game, and there is no way I'm going to do this. I don't think think the Army is giving away free stuff just for the fun of it...

Hehe, an army recruiter called up my house too about 2 months ago.

I signed up for america's army, and I never got 1 e-mail or anything (besides a quick phone call like the person I quoted from, but I doubt that was for ordering aa, as I either gave a fake phone number, or it didn't ask for one). I also signed up for a free marines keychain, and never got anything other than the keychain in the regular mail, or in my e-mail inbox. I'll give it a try later for the free t-shirt.

The army really is't that bad, I am in satellite communications school right now, and we don't do as much of the killing and dying as some of our other co-workers;)

I am over the age limit for them to recruit. I may call and see how that goes over tomorrow. I have some badass Air Force wears from my friend who is a pilot. Good quality stuff like the Armed Forces. :)

they send someone to your house and make you do 100 sit-ups and 100 push-ups, then you get the t-shirt and video :p

I've got TONS of Army apparrel... I once stopped in a recruitment office for the heck of it, took a skills/aptitude test and got the highest scores they'd seen. I had a great job at the time, and wasn't interested, but kept getting stuff in the mail...

Funny, now that I'm too old to be recruited, I'd actually be interested in being in the armed forces...

Tell them you have asthma, flat feet, and a bad back.....they'll leave you alone, it worked for me.

When they call you Back tell them that Your so excited, and ask them to hold on while you go get your inhaler.

I knew a guy that signed up and went through basic training.

He came back with white hair.

I don't know if it was the nerve gas innoculations or just the stress of being humiliated daily and the physical training.

He's still barely drinking age too.

Saw someone wearing one of those dark "Army of One" t-shirts the other day. Not bad looking (at least from the back). The Army of One advertising campaign is pretty well done and is my favourite of all the army recruitment ads I've ever seen.

Free is free. I went ahead and did it (I am 49 and have already done my stint) and an Asian sounding woman answered the telephone......well, maybe Hispanic, but who cares.

Asked a lot of questions, even for SS# which I declined, and said it would be in the mail shortly.

Also declined a Recruiters call.

I realize there was a lot of tounge-in-cheek comments from fellow AT's in this thread but even after having been in the AF (volunteer for the GI Bill benefits - 5 years of college and a lot more), I still feel a National Service type activity would be appropriate for most of us when we reach 18. Doesn't have to be the Armed Forces but something to maintain what the US offers and represents.

Off the soapbox and thanks for the great Free T-shirt. My 13 year old son will love it.

I signed up for the free CD case from the Marines, i put my dogs name down. A couple weeks later a marine recruiter shows up and asks if he can talk with "thor." My sister says sure, points to the dog (a white german shepard) and says "hes right there..." so instead the d@mn marine hit on my sister. Unbelievable. Just thought id share that ;-)

"Be...a tool of the bourgeoisie...
'Cause we bleed you...in the Army."

The U.S. Armed Forces have been in action something like 200 times in other countries. In all but a handful of times it has been to steal someone else's land, meddle in their politics or dominate their economies.

I'm not that hard up for T shirts. Pass.
