Ok, bought my daughters birthday present at BestBuy with my new Discover card. Wonder how long we'll be waiting for our Nuvi?

Wait...so are there any restrictions on what we can buy (or amount to spend) to be eligible for this?

Can't we use it for like a token purchase at say a grocery store/gas station etc?



On another note...applied on last monday, got approval on tues...no card in the mail yet....
 
AdyG, all it says on the ad page is "Card activation is defined as making a purchase, balance transfer or cash advance with this credit card". I have never seen it stated that there is a minimum ammount to qualify. I thought about that when I was at the gas station getting a drink myself. LOL. However I knew I was going to be birthday shopping anyhow, and its 6 months no interest so I made my purchase at BestBuy.
 
People on FW have bought a double cheese burger from mcdonald's and that has been enough to get them the free gps
 
I used mine in conjunction with GCO at buy.com to purchase a 4GB USB drive for $4.95. If things work out as planned, I should get a GPS and 4GB USB drive for < $5.

Discover customer service said within 2 weeks of using your card, you should receive an email with a link to get your GPS. How long it takes after that...no clue!
 
Read this on the FW forum. Sounds promising!

I signed up for the Discover Miles card at the end of May, for the free Garmin promotion. One week later I got my Discover card, and I activated it ASAP. On June 17 I received the Garmin at my house after receiving a shipment notification the Friday before. Got it just in time for hubbie's birthday. It works very well and we are very pleased with it!

Also, got this link where you can check status. Mine says:

Your order has not yet shipped. When it does ship, an email containing a URL to track the status of your shipment will be sent to the email address that you specified when you created your order.

Apparently it will say "order not found" or something like that until a few days after you make your first purchase.
 
I e-mailed their customer service a few times with various questions and they responded pretty quickly. I had gotten the card about a week ago and tried to check the status but nothing found, now I see why that is. I'll be using my card today for something. Thanks.
 
It's been at least a couple of weeks since the first takers have made their purchases with the card. Has anyone gotten an email saying your Nuvi is on the way (or better yet, actually received it)?

This may have been Ok, if it were not a Discover card. I don't think Discover allows a 2nd instance of the same card. You may have a family member apply though ...

Where do you got your order # from?

I got my card almost 2 weeks ago...have used it 5-6 times. No email from em about the GPS as yet...

Don't need the order number to get into that link. Just use your last name and email address that you applied with (you only need 2 of the 3 items to log in). Then it will show you an order number and status.
 
The site is still up..I haven't signed up yet, but what do you think of the chances I'd get in? I'll take another CC if I get something free..but otherwise, my Amex is fine..
 
Just applied today... will see how it goes ... worse thing is that I take a small hit on my credit... ah well...
 
Reading the FW forums, it looks like it's taking longer than when they first started the promotion. Some people received them very quickly. But people are still getting their confirmations regularly. You may actually have to wait the 6-10 weeks that they quote when you sign up.

I'm getting the "We could not find your order based on your search parameters." when I try my order lookup. It's been over a week since I made my first purchase on the discover.

Any ideas?

FYI, I used my last name and email address as the search param.

(Been bout 3 weeks since my first purchase....no confirmation email etc....but atleast the link shows my order ID/status...)
