I'm looking for a free software firewall that will run on win2k3 that lets me add ACLs, like block the computer from accessing specific IP ranges/ports, inbound and outbound. Tiny Personal Firewall is exactly what I need, but that program wont run well on 2k and up, and theres not an updated version that I know of.
This is to secure a p2p VM that I created, I basically want to block it from accessing anything on the network exept for the server it stores its files on, and I also want to protect it from inbound stuff but in this case outbound is what I really need to secure. So if I would accidentally open a malicious file on the VM it would not all over the network, or at least minimize the chance. Or if an exploit is found in the p2p software that enables someone to gain some control over the system, it would also make it harder for them to access the rest of the network. Though at this point they could disable the firewall, depending on the level of access they have.
Also, is there any free AV software that will run on a win2k3 box? AVG wont install on it. I only chose win2k3 because of the RDP capabilities. I think xp has RDP but XP also has a large foot print and I dont want to have to allowcat 512MB of ram for that VM, but more like 128 which win2k3 runs fine with.
