You'll be hard-pressed to find an up-to-date freeware fax software. There are plenty of shareware/30-day trial ones out there, though.

I'd highly suggest getting an OEM copy of WinFax Pro (~$30) or signup with an online provider like GreenFax.

I opened up a "Send-Only" account at GreenFax (formerly IntelliFax.com) several years ago and it's worked perfect for me. I deposited $25 into an account, and my outgoing faxes are deducted at a rate of 7 cents per minute - no monthly fee. Simply send an e-mail with any type of attachment and put the destination phone number in the e-mail header - you get automated confirmation within minutes, and you never have to screw around with modems, phone lines, or special software. :thumbsup:

The Windows XP fax software should be sufficient, but here are some places where you can get WFP OEM:

Double check against Symantec's website to make sure the version you purchase works under Windows XP, assuming that's what you're running.
