Free DVD player for W2K

I need a link to a free DVD player. All the free players I have seen only play ~3 minutes of the movie unless you pay for them. Thanks. R

Windows Media Player 9?

My Windows 2000 box doesn't have a DVD-ROM drive, so I can't test this and let you know.

Imagine that. Paying for software. Now there's an alien concept. 😀

"FREE" is the biggest sucker game of all time. Make sure you're not sacrificing your privacy by running "FREE" software.

Thank you for using MaXimus DVD Player. MaXimus DVD is a free software player
for playing DVD movies on your PC.

I got this on a PC Mag cover disk, haven't tested it yet.

Website

I run Win 2k, I've started it up, but not played a DVD.

EDIT: Tried it, can't seem to get it to do anything, but I'm not sure how you're meant to. I might try reading the Readme though.

EDIT2: Try this - I think it's a web based DVD player 🙂

I thought that when you buy DVD software, you're also paying for some mpeg license to decode the DVD. That's why there aren't many, if any, free DVD players out there.

Media player classic can play vob's. I don't have a DVD drive to test, but it should play those too. I don't think it comes with an MPEG2 decoder. I can't remember where I downloaded mine from.

That is correct.

Ever heard of Linux?
BSD?
And all the free software available for them?

Not meant as a threadcrap in any way, just curious why someone would automatically assume that all freeware sucks/contains spyware/will kill your dog.

Oh and I've been wondering about this too, would be nice to find a free DVD player for Windows. 🙂

Thanks guys. I am trying not to install Media player 9 on this machine as I several DIVX codecs that will be "upgraded". I have Win DVD, but it is a disk for a Dell laptop, so it will only install on another Dell. I have ATI Media player, same story, no ATI card in that machine. Thanks.RR
