I recently got an email from Winfire saying that I was not within their range. Question: worth chaning from Charter Cable (through Earthlink) basic service for $30 a month (including modem)? The packages are listed below in a copy of my email. ANyone had any experience with them? SImplicity of cable not worth giving up?

From what I read your lucky, most people cant get service from them. If your cable is fast and reliable I would stay with it. If your cable is slow or unreliable it wouldn't hurt to try them at $35 for the top speed or $20 for 384 Kpbs if that is all the speed you need.

I'm stuck using there dial-up til they can finally hook me up, I can't wait to get DSL.

I signed up for winfire too and am going to get the enhanced service at 19.95 a month. They gave me a free modem when I called them up(even though the website says that you only pay $99 for the modem using the enhanced service). By the way, if you use the basic service(free) and the low level enhanced service(9.95) you need to have a 13 month commitment or you'll be charged a bunch of money. For the others, you need to have a 3 month commitment.

However, I think the deal that is worth it is the 34.95 deal, cuz you get 1.5Mbps, comparable to cable. Anyways, I may be cancelling this dsl service because AT&T cable got to me first, only took them 1 week from order to installation. Winfire took months and months, and I still haven't received the DSL kit yet. So, if you wanna order, I suggest you start with the 19.95 deal so that you don't have to be stuck with 13month commitment.

Thanks.
