Hey guys, heard this over the radio here, DSLMONSTER.com where supposedly you get Free DSL for home or business. You pay 129 one time fee and then get 2 e-mails a day. I read the TOS, and all it states is basically that they will use any info they can possibly get on you, and that you're required to fill out their surveys.

Anyone heard/used them? If this is legit, it's a good way to save some money.

This sounds familiar.......one must of squeaked through the fall of the free ISP, if they aren't out of buisness now, they soon will be

I don't expect this company to survive for long. After all, FreeDSL went bust a long time ago (I remember trying to decide whether to sign up with that. They stopped service 3 months later.) Just expect the free ride to end in a few months. On the other hand, if it lasts 3 months, you pay the equivalent of 43 bucks a months.

How can it survive on 2 emails a day? Won't most users just have those go directly in their spam bucket? Not a good business model. If Netzero can only give you 10 hours a month dialup...

Why not! May be it owns by Bill Gate. He tries to give away just to prove that MicroSoft can do it!

Agree their life will be short. But even if they lasted for a while, $129 setup ain't free.

While this is probably not the place for the question, what do I need to buy to hook up my three dial-up PCs, currently using 58K modems, to a dsl system?

I get the feeling that the $129 asked for by dslmonster is just the beginning of hubs, routers, nics and stringing cables thru the house and would like to know what I'd be getting into.

If there isn't a short answer, would someone please direct me to where I can find the info?

Thanks.

TOS

I believe they learned alot from what happened to winfire. A few interesting things in the on-line agreement .

1. File attachment limited to 3 mb and no more then 5 mb in your mail box. IMHO, it was the f***heads who was napster happy that helped winfire down the toilet.
2. They can stick a 3rd party message with a hyperlink on your outgoing email.
3. Beside providing your initial info, they'll come back and ask again and again and again. Plus, they expect you to be truthful or else.
4. If this bunch of people don't like you, then they can halt service at any time for good, no good, or no reason at all.
5. Most other events, including Acts of God (just kidding), ain't their fault.

Total scam. Let's see why:

Hmm, comforting knowing they have been in business for a whopping 9 days now. I especially like the multiple spelling errors found throughout the page - always a sign of a quality company. The parent company appears to be "MunchieMonster.com" which is a non functioning website registered 1 month ago.

The 800 number listed is not registered to any businesses and appears to be non working.
The "In the news page" states that they launched in October but their website didn't even exist then. Plus no matter what zip code you enter the website states that Free DSL is available to you. I was allowed to sign up for service in Staten Island, NY!

Stay far away from this one guys.

2 e-mails a day for free DSL? They won't last long. I already have cable, and like it, but if I didn't, I would let them send 2 e-mails to my very private, e-mail account (spambucket@hotmail.com). They shouldn't object sending those to spambucket@hotmail.com since they used one to register their domain. :p

j6money,

You beat me by 3 minutes!

I was also able to sign up in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and New Jersey. Looks like they claim to be available nationwide! Pretty good for a 9 day old company that just launched in San Diego a few days ago, eh?

I just got done talking by phone with someone at the SWB Texas office that handle the other ISPs who provide DSL services. This company isn't on SWB list at the present time.
