Free/Donated computer equipment and internet access for non-profits?

I will be starting a new job running a computer lab for a non-profit school for adults with developemental dissabilities. The lab is mainly used to run different cognitive games and such, but some of the students also use the computers to do digital art/photography.
I believe there are currently 6 P2 computers that are used by the students (these were the last ones donated), as well as a P4 that is used as a server. I would love to find some more rescources for getting up to date computers donated, instead of just haveing to wait until someone updates their office and is looking for someone to take their old boxes away (which is how they got the 6 P2's).

I would also like to get these guys online so they can have more exposure to the world and so that I can get new programs and such for them to use without haveing to wait untill I get home to use my computer.

Thanks for taking time to read all of this, and if anyone has any suggestions let me know!

peace

Your best bet may be to pay $100 or so and print up a ton of flyers and hand them out, I'm sure there's a lot of people out there that have some extra computer equipment they would be more than willing to give for a good cause.

However, to the extent of my knowledge, there is no organization that collects used computer equipment and donates it to organizations that need it.

You will not internet for free, however some local ISP may provide some type of discount.

Check with large companies in your area about donating used systems when they upgrade.

You are going to have to put in some legwork to make contacts.

M$ will provide S/W for non-profits. check their web site for details.
