Free DNS

Zoneedit.com is a good one you can host i think 5 domain names for free...very nice web interface to
make changes almost instantly.. been using it for my site for a while now..works very nicely

hope that helps

<edit>they also give you mail forwarding for your domain if you don't have your own mail server 🙂</edit>

some sites such as DNSart offer dynamic DNS for people
with dynamic IP's such as on cable/dsl.. these sites however require you install their software
client.. which i'm not too keen on

I just registed a domain and plan to setup a mail and web server. I am on cable and am hoping to be able to get a static IP.

I think zoneedit will probably work ok for me.

Thanks.

ZoneEdit is flat-out the best, no competition. Check, though, and see if your registrar provides access to the zone file for DNS. Many are doing that now.
