Free Cendyne CD Burner AMIRs July 20-26 @ OfficeMax. $70- $20 manuf. rebate -$50 OM rebate=$0.00 here is the link to the burner

Cendyne burner or it could be the Khypermedia burner

I'll bet they'll be sold out by Sunday morning 🙁

Also Photosuite 5 is free AMIRs, but you have to have a previous edition.

I'll let TheDiggler post all the details, he never fails. I was just so excited about this so had to post.

Go here for an OfficeMax in your state

Good news then! I have an empty spot in my case and I lost the cover for it. I'd definitely take another drive FAR to fill in that spot!

It's funny to think back that I got one of the 52x rebadged lite-on's FAR way back at Christmas time almost 8 months ago. I don't consider any burner to be a good deal anymore unless it's also FAR now.

They are both currently listed as 79.98. That means 9.98 after rebates unless they change the regular price to 69.98 then it would be FAR. Plus the link shows a Cendyne or khypermedia 48x12x48 Internal CD-RW Drive. You might want to note that in your title.

Microcenter has the Cendyne 48x CDRW for $70 where as OM has it for $80...

a little PM will pocket you $10 in the end

http://microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0121597

edit: model numbers match...its good to go

edit #2: eh may not work as OM has the exact same policy as staples...they generate an after rebate price on their own product, and if the competitors price is still less then they PM the difference between their price after rebates and the competitors price...thus, OM would get a price of $10 where as MC would have a price of $70...in the words of Arnold Schwartzenegger: "No Deal"

That has always been Staple's policy (not to PM rebates)..
That is not true, I did it just about two months ago, few weeks before they changed it. I PMed Buslink from Microcenter counting in the rebate and it costed me less than $30 for shipped 52x24x52 Liteon, no rebate involved. I still consider that as a great deal since does not include secretarial work for rebates and it is one time thing, no need to follow rebate B_S. Unfortunately Staples changed that.

Hello all! I don't post often, I'm mainly here to lurk I guess and to check out the other parts of the forum but I work at Officemax and was looking at the add tonight when it was slow. On Sunday the Khypermedia 48x24x48 burner, I believe those are the specs will go down 9 dollars or 9.99. so then after the rebates yeah it will be free except for tax. The Cendyne is the substitution so you can only get that after the khypermedia is gone. The Cendyne burner, also 48x24x48 is discontinued but some stores may still have them. I don't think the store I work at does but you can have OM transfer one in from another store, but you will have to prepay for it to get the deal b/c its ya know, only this week. Transferring isn't that bad of a deal it usually takes about 3-5 days unless the other store is chaotic and doesn't have their shiznit together. Peace out!

PS, this could not be the case in all areas but in most I believe it is.

PSS OM is a messed up place to work at, always seems like we don't have enough stuff in stock that we sell and too much crap that piles up.

Let's see here....

Cendyne is known to be just about rebadged-anything, SOMETIMES Lite-on. But seriously, I know Lite-on will give you slightly better burn times/can burn any copy protection, but the average Joe won't need to search for such a thing. Supposedly, this is a substitute, as the Khypermedia is listed first in ad numbers and its RW speed is only 12x, meaning people would notice that, going for Khypermedia first anyways.

Khypermedia has been said to be a rebadged-Benq (Acer). That's not a horrible thing, but some things have been said about quality of Benq products. Although, here's an interesting thing.

Benq's website only shows a 48x16x48x CDRW drive, and on up to 52x, etc. There is no mention of a 48x24x48, making me think that at least this model number could not possibly be a Benq, as they don't make one this speed. However, Lite-On does. One hint would be to look for the burn protection, such as Just-Link, etc. Lite-Ons will always be SMART-BURN.

I would think, for the same price anyways, go for the Khypermedia. The faster CDRW speed makes up for the slight chance of lesser quality. Also, they price would be 9.99 right now, meaning you might not want to wait until Sunday. $10 is $10...

Careful with this deal.

I've bought two Cendyne Burners in the past few months, one from Officemax and one from Staples. With BOTH of them I got my rebates denied and had to call a CSR for OM or Staples as the rebateshq people are just about useless (if you can reach them).

Of all the rebates I've ever done only the Cendynes (both of them) have been refused. Granted, I'm not a rebate guru but I've done my fair share.

Lastly, even though I got the rebate issue fixed the *#@*$@*s claim they mailed me my checks months ago and tell me I've cashed them too. Guess what, never recieved and never cashed.

The high point is that the Cendyne 52x internal I bought ended up being a Lite-on.

i think OM still accepts competitors coupons...

theres a printable $10 off $50 staples coupon out there...and i ALSO think there is a printable $10 off $10 officemax coupon out there...

thus the drive will be FREE 🙂

Umm...I clicked on the link for the cendyne and it was the one qualified fo the rebate. Anybody know if this is the one?

Interesting thing I noticed when I went to a OM in Orlando, FL today.

The ad with the free burner seems to be available everywhere, except in the cities around Orlando. You have to get the ad from about 70 miles away to find one with the free burner.

Getting back to the interesting......
So I went into my OM today to check out the 48xCendyne. They dont even sell it anymore. The salesperson said that it has been discontinued. They still have the 52x cendynes (which indeed are Lite-Ons), but I dont know if that would be a substitute. Its interesting though that they are discontunued since it doesnt seem like burners are going to get faster than 52 anyway. Maybe there is somethign we dont know

I love it... they are advertising a burner that they no longer carry. And Cendyne makes you call them to "correct" an error on their part for not sending your rebate.

If you or I did this.... we'd be in jail.
😉
