If the order is filled locally and delivered by Staples couriers, they include both the Internet receipt and a regular cash register receipt. This happens with me in Washington state. The only time I didn't get a regular receipt was when the item shipped from a warehouse in California.

A. They discovered they were out in your area

B. You are on the hit list because of coupon use.

If they are out in your area it will usually tell you that in the email.
Give them a call and find out :)

As a humorous off topic note that we are laughing at here...the dvdtalk people are so mad they are ordering hundreds of DVD's of Suck It and See from Amazon and then cancelling the orders to try to get it to the number one position...Some guy is going to order 400 of them..ah the joys of deal hunting

Just ordered. Used On-Line Rebate form and all I have to do is mail the shipping invoice and the UPC and the Staples rebate is mine. The coupon worked as well and with no shipping the price can't be beat. FREE. Great deal BANDITAENMASQUERADA. Ciao for now. Ape Out.

TO ALL THOSE WHO'S ORDERS ARE CANCELLED:
why were they cancelled? are you paying the regular $59.95 price or are you trying to use the $20 new Staples buyer coupon?

the $40 rebate states: "Rebate applies to Digital Research 56X CD Rom Drive (SKU 392186) purchased at Staples stores only." however all you have to mail in is the UPC, they don't even know where you bought it unless the UPC somehow relates to the place of purchase (doubt it).

As a good friend of a Veteran of the Staples Wars let me give you something to try.

If your order was cancelled try calling it in via a CSR versus doing it online. Staples does have some very friendly CSR's - if you are lucky enough to get one.
If your account has been flagged, call the Office of the President of Staples about it.

My friend has done every kind of Staples deal imaginable and has not had her account flagged yet. One thing I think that helps
is if you are a dividends customer. She has also had things delivered to big Staples customers when they were out of stock in her area so that might enter into the equation as well. She has had deals delivered all over the US so that might also disperse their concentrated attention.

She has several different account numbers with them but all with the same address and phone number. I wonder if she got the ban on one of her accounts if all would be flagged.

If Vladik can place 9 orders with a dividend code on a weekend night and not get banned then there is hope for you yet :)

I ordered on Thursday last week. Friday the drive showed up on my doorstep. I used the coupon and just mailed in the rebate. Not sure about the coupon abuse issue, but I bought about 6 different items in the past six months from Staples. Every single one of these items cost just over $50 and I used a $20 coupon everytime. They keep on giving me these deals. I'll keep using the coupons until it dries up.

Here is my take on these super Staples deals. This DR drive is just like the Royal DaVinci deal last week -- Staples wasn't selling these things. They were just sitting collecting dust. So to clear out stock, they sweetened the deal. So even if Staple's is losing a little money on this deal, they are getting rid of stock that is just wasting space.

The 56X drive I got looked old. It was still shrink wrapped, but the shrink wrap was kind of stuck to the box like it had been sitting somewhere for a long, long time. The good news is the drive works fine and it comes with an audio cable and an IDE cable. Not bad for free. As for getting warranty work through DR, good luck.

Mine was cancelled too, using $20 coupon.
I called the customer service, the rep said the order was there but no item was in the list. She tried to make a new order but the cdrom item disappeared again after adding to the order list. She asked me to call back on Mon after the computer system problem was fixed.

McDull,

Your situation sounds like ones we have had in the past where they did not have the item in stock although it let you originally place the order. Your order number will show up but the item will be missing. I don't know if this is an IngramMicro product. If not, you might try asking her to "dcc" it from another warehouse and see if she can do the order. This little phrase means they send it to you from the next available warehouse.

Damn, I got cancelled too. Well, I hope another good CDROM deal comes along soon. I am just kinda ticked because I missed the free 40x at CompUSA due to the mad rush of people and I missed this one too. :(

My order was also cancelled. CSR was unable to find out why and couldn't find any stock either. "Strange!" she said.

Anyway, there are some at my local B&M. So I'll mosey over and lose out on the coupon.

I think this proves that the early bird gets the worm, at least regarding Anand Hotdeals postings. When you see something real good in this forum, it pays to jump.

Is anyone here ever received rebate from Digital Research?
If yes, how long does it takes?

Thank you for your info.

I tried to answer your question this morning but either it didn't go through or I put it on the wrong thread.
This is a staples rebate so you have recourse against Staples on this. They may get reimbursed by the man. but as long as you follow their guidelines then Staples has to make good.

I received my 56X CDROM today. Have not opened it yet, since I am not too excited on this one, because I just installed a 50X last week.

But I am still waiting my 128M RAM:|
