I lost the software that came with my burner, its pretty ancient (4x)

will xcopy really work with a burner or are you pulling my proverbial leg

Use nero and when the trial expires , uninstall it, delete its directory, and re-install ! :p

I assume you're looking for free Windows SW? Otherwise, Linux has good free CD recording SW such as 'cdrecord'.

I have an old writer that came with NTI and I used that for a long time but it is not nearly as good as Nero, so if you can get that from somebody, that's the best. Even if you can find someone that will give you version 5.0 you can get a free upgrade from their website to 5.5. Sorry I don't have better info. CloneCD has a demo available if that helps.

Actually cdrecord (which as someone else mentioned for Linux) is ALSO available for windows as well. Same commandline interface. As a matter of fact with Windows GTK you might could port over some of the front-ends for it. But it definately is available.
