Free Car Lemon Check?

I remmember a thread in the Hot Deals forum a while back about getting a free Lemon check for a car online. The only service that comes up readily in searches of the web is carfax which is free for a small non-detailed report, and charges $14.95 for a single detailed car report, or $20 for unlimited reports.

Is there a service that is fully free?

There used to be a link to a free carfax report in Hot Deals, but I bet that it's expired by now or they pulled the web page after all the extra traffic from Hot Deals.

Right.. I couldnt find the link in the hot deals forum. I'm hoping someone here has it bookmarked.

I think carfax may have had a promotion some time ago, but I may be mistaken. I paid for the full report. If the "free" quick report says it is okay, then just go with that. There was not really any enlightening information in the cost report except where/when it had been titled.
