Free Blueprint Software?

Looking for some free blueprint software.

I want to build a blueprint package to submit for a residential house building project.

Thanks.

I've never found anything cheap that was worth using. The low cost options I've run across that can be made to do the job have always been far more trouble than they're worth. Either pony up and get a real architectural cad package or do it by hand.

For years I've used basic cad software called Cad Standard for shop drawings and permit drawings where an architect isn't required. It's free or ~$40 for the full version. What it will do is pretty much anything that can be done with a pencil and paper except free-form sketch type stuff. There are only a dozen commands or so and it works very well once learned. It isn't "Blueprint" software though where, for example, you can pick from a set of wall types to draw and drop in doors and windows or automatically draw roof framing.

Maybe check with local architect firms to see if any of them have old copies of Auto Cad cheap.
I did that for a welding fab shop 3 or 4 years ago and was able to pick up a 2 year old Auto Cad program for $10.
Worth checking around.

For that kind of software, you should really pay for something good. Also take the above posters advice and see of there are and firms around you that might sell you a copy of their older software.

I've been playing with LibreCad lately. I don't know CAD, and I haven't fully checked it out, but it should work for my needs. I want to be able to import coordinates, and add lines to them to make worksheets. AutoCad it isn't, but it should be sufficient for me.

How about Google SketchUp? it is free! Something isn't free but it is darn handy for many different things, you can use MS Visio.
