Just got a Retina mini and loving it so far .. The screen is so damn sharp.

Got a question on the apps like iPhoto/iMovie etc that are supposed to be free.. when I first launched the app store I saw a screen about these free apps. I entered my iTunes account but it only downloaded Pages. Now when I search for these apps it says I have to purchase them. What's the proper way to 'redeem' and download these free apps?
