Free AntiVirus question

After reading about the free AntiVirus: AntiVer, I downloaded and installed it. I was surprised when I checked out all the info that I found by clicking the AntiVir icon that my use of this software was only good for about 3 months.
Did I do something wrong?
 
In the AntiVir Personal Edition Classic, there is a line in the status tab that says "License Valid Until:" and a date thats 3 months from when you installed it. I saw this when I first installed it and wondered if it would actually expire. Well when my "license" expired, it just pushed the date forward another 3 months.
