Anyone know if of a good cheap or even better FREE anti-virus? I was using PC-Cillin 02 and I was liking that they didn't charge me every year for updates! There 2005 edition only comes with a year of updates. Does anyone know of AV that is either free or cheap with no yearly charges?

Best suggestion would be to use the Search button there at the top of the Forum.

Windows OneCare Live

It's in Beta, but you can get a one year subcription for free. It's definately worth a glance at. I use it on my main rig. I have to admit, I like what I see from M$.

I don't use antivirus but my friends swear by NOD32, and I've used it myself before, it's not bad at all.

Edit: Sorry, just noticed this: -
NOD32 highly recommended, but it charges.
NOD32 was free last time I used it, have they sold-out? :(

AntiVir FTW
No it isn't; Firstly, I have nothing of value on this computer. Secondly, I reformat pretty regularly anyway. Thirdly, I've only suffered two viruses in all my time using computers, Sasser and the other worm similar to it, and both were harmless and easily patched.

When I get a destructive virus and lose something important, feel free to mock me, until then you may wish to think before you speak.

Edit: I don't use a firewall either, oh noes the haxx0rz R out 2 get me!!!11oneone!!11shift+1!!!

I find Antivir gives adequate protection. I wish it did auto-updates, but otherwise it's fine.

you should probably at least have something. even if you don't have anythign important on it, they can still turn it into like a zombie server or something.
