Free anti-virus softwar

I've tried grisoft and like it very much, but lately I havent been able to get any definitions update.
Im looking for an alternative.

Systems are windows 2000/xp/98

Effective when.

I have a couple of systems (remote) that are protected using AVG. Last time I updated them was around the 15th.

see if you can update it. i tried this morning and it stalled.
The internet connection is working ... I tried accessing various websites.

Update is working fine for me. It's a tad slow (Took about 30-45 seconds before it got started) but it works. Try being patient next time.
