Free Annual Credit Report

Nice, thanks for the link. It's about time something like this was done. It's my credit, let me see dammit!

Also, something else I didn't know that I read at this site:
If you want a credit report today you can obtain one from any of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies. If you purchase a report, the price is set by law and will not exceed $9.00.

is there a limit on how many times i can use this? will it affect my credit rating at all everytime i check?

Once per year per agency. No it will not hurt your credit.

Checking your credit does not affect your credit score. Common misconception.

only 3rd party companies (banks, auto dealers, etc.) that check your credit affect your score.

ive heard equifax does not give the credit score, but does transunion or experian give the score? fico or the adjusted. Does anyone know?
thanks.

hardly relevant

in the past if you want a free report
just call the 800 for the correct bureau and say you've been denied credit

as long as theres a recent inquiry
you're golden

cool 🙂 someone else go first and let me know if it's legit.

I did before posting. You go through the site to get the report from all three credit companies. Not just one. You have to pay for the Fico score though.

😕

You know, I never understood this. What a bum deal! Luckily I have great credit (or so I was told), but apparently it had to get worse for the guy at the auto dealer to tell me that. Effing CRAP!

Anyway, I really wanna do this....but I'm always sketched out about having to post my SS# over the net.

Well, I got my report. Apparently all is well and in good standing. Too bad they don't give us our actual credit score. Whatever, I had it run recently at a dealership, and am having the girl I'm seeing who works there dig it up for me. *shrug*

i'm going to just buy it. technically, since I'm in MD, i get one anyway, but i don't feel like calling and waiting, i want instant online 😛

What happens if they do not have the correct current employer in your file?

Nothing really. It will be updated next time someone pulls it and provides employment info. Most don't though.

I just went to order one from Equifax. I got to the verify my identity part and it asked me questions about a mortgage I never had and then said that they were unable to verify who I was...

Hopefully, this isn't indicative of a gross error on my report...

update: apparently, everyone fails that test...

And because I failed the test, I have to fax in a billion documents in order to get my $9 credit report - which I will not be doing.

So much for instant gratification...

In New Jersey you are entitled to a free report. Just call 1-800-685-1111. Not instant but still free.
