free alternatives to keyhole's "earthviewer 3d"?

i just downloaded NASA's World Wind program, and its good for a free program, but the close up resolution isn't anywhere near that of keyhole's... any other free programs with good urban coverage and high res pics? (i'd buy keyhole, but its $30 or so per year and i don't need it that often. if it was a $30 one-time fee i'd buy it in a heartbeat) also tried USA Photo Maps, but nasa's gui is much better with the same coverage and resolution...

I remember a while back like in 1999/2000 my sister found a site where you could view with a satellite in real time anywhere in the world (it updated every 10 secs because she had dialup etc.). It was very neat but unfortunately she lost the site so I guess we will never know what happened to the site after that...

BTW keyhole works by a database so it doesn't update pictures quite often therfore making it pretty useless.

I only thought there was Keyhole. The NASA one looks pretty neat tho. I was going to get Keyhole for my Dad, because he flies small planes and wanted to use the maps to do waypoints, but the NASA thing may work better. Thanks for the info!

world wind is pretty cool but where my house and community is supposed to be it shows a pristine, undeveloped hillside

wonder how often it updates

The "USGS Digital Ortho" in World Wind seems pretty high res for anything that us normal people would have access to. Is this "Keyhole" thing any better than that?
